IV therapy (or intravenous vitamin therapy) is a means by which a healthy and safe dose of nutrients are given to a patient through their circulatory system. Vitamins, minerals, and amino acids are put directly into the bloodstream, guaranteeing maximum absorption. When vitamins are taken by mouth, digestion may not extract the optimal amount of the nutrients.
IV vitamin therapy may be used as a preventive measure against aging, or to improve sports performance, increase energy, or create a greater sense of well being. Still others may use this type of therapy at the onset of cold or other viral infection.
