About Sculptra
Sculptra® Aesthetic is made of injectable poly-L-Lactid acid. This substance is mixed with water, local anesthetic, and then injected. Over a few weeks the bodies own collagen is stimulated to fill in depressions and wrinkles. A single injection will continue to stimulate collagen even up to 3 months after the procedure and can last for 2 years.

Topical anesthetic cream will be applied to the face prior to treatment to anesthetize the skin. Sculptra® is mixed with local anesthetic and injected into the area to be treated with a very fine needle resulting in minimal discomfort. The Practitioner injects very small amounts at a time to insure a smooth and even distribution. Deep facial massage is performed following the injection of Sculptra®.
Immediately following injection, an ice pack will be placed on your face to soothe and minimize the potential for bruising or swelling. You may have some redness or swelling at the injection site. This usually dissipates rapidly and most patients return to work immediately following the procedure. More extensive injections may create some bruising that can last for a week or so but can be covered with make-up. With Sculptra injections you will see an immediate improvement in your appearance but this improvement is short-lived as the water from the injection dissipates over a few days. Within 4-6 weeks the effects of Sculptra become apparent with continued improvement for up to 3 months per injection session. Patients usually require 2-3 injection sessions to attain the desired effect. Once achieved, the correction of facial aging and improvement in facial contour lasts for 2 years.
